so today my hubbins had a gastroscopy performed on him to see if he had any esophageal erosion or possible pre-cancerous damage. he's still pretty drugged up, but thankfully for him he's able to eat now. the findings so far of the procedure are that he has mild inflammation of the stomach(GERD) and possibly has H pylori(which would also cause the inflammation). the doctor biopsied his stomach and we should have results in about a week to see if he has the H pylori bacteria, in which case he'll just need a 10 day antibiotic treatment and need to possibly take Omeprazole twice daily, instead of once which he currently takes. at the moment however, he's passed out upstairs from the anesthetic.
i was a little concerned though, when he came to at the hospital, that he asked me who i was. even though it's not a risky procedure, i was still worried that something was going to go wrong. honestly, anything could have gone wrong with the anesthesia. he could have been given too much, or he could have had an allergic reaction to it and died. there's nothing worse than coming into a hospital room just to find out that the person you waited your whole life to meet and love is dead from "human error". but i'm glad that everything went smoothly. hopefully he'll be fully recovered by tomorrow, otherwise i'll need to call the doctor and see about getting him looked after.
